Lascaris War Rooms

Lascaris War Rooms is an underground Second World War command complex beneath Valletta’s fortifications. The tunnels and operations rooms served as a major Allied headquarters and were used to coordinate the defence of Malta and important Mediterranean operations.

World War II Command Centre

The complex contained operations rooms for the different fighting services and received information used to coordinate air and naval activity around Malta. The site preserves the atmosphere of a functioning wartime headquarters.

Operation Husky

In July 1943 the Lascaris War Rooms served as an advance headquarters for Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily. The site’s current visitor offer includes an exhibition dedicated to the invasion of Sicily in 1943.

Tickets and Admission

The current official ticket prices list adults at €20, seniors at €19, children aged 5–15 at €7 and a family ticket for two adults and three children under 16 at €35. Members are admitted free. On-site ticket purchases are card-only.

Opening Hours

The official site currently lists opening Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30, with last admission at 16:00. The attraction closes on selected public and religious holidays including New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
